I've been busy, and have got a bit behind. Here's a couple of pics from the visit of Stockport Reds (Stockport League) on November 17th. A tough match, with the result depending on the last game, but a lost cause in the end, by 3.5 - 2.5.

Down to business.
John Blackburn's game, watched intently by Mike Hancock and Mike Taylor.

We'll not say any more about the Stockport League just now, but we have some crowing to do about Kings performance in the Stoke League. They entertained the league leaders, Macclesfield, on December 1st, and trounced them 4.5 - 0.5, supplanting them at the top of the league.

I played my second match for our mortal enemies, Cheddleton, this weekend (December 4th). This was in the 4NCL competition, and it was a game worth driving for over an hour to play. Six and a quarter hours play, 75 moves, and my opponent - Ruth Sheldon. Never heard of her? Do a Google on "chess ruth sheldon". You'll find a lot of stuff about her accomplishments in chess, but suffice to say that she is the third ranking woman chess player in the country, with a grade of 207 - it has been higher. The result? Have a look at the games section.
