Using Our Saitek Clocks

Navigating the Clock

Use the joystick left and right to navigate between Modes 1 to 7, and move the joystick up and down to change the settings in each mode. Check the underneath of the clock to see what modes are available. NOTE – If you have selected Modes 3 or 7, you cannot move to other modes until you have navigated up or down to the setting with the — symbol.

Setting the clock for our leagues

We need two different settings for the Stoke league and one for the Stockport leagues. The three user settings are set up as follows:

7A – Stockport League, from September 2012. All the moves in 90 minutes.

7B – Stoke League, Fischer timing. All the moves in 75 minutes, with ten seconds per move added before.

7C – Stoke league, old timing. All the moves in 85 minutes.

Playing with the Clock

After switching on and navigating to 7A, 7B (looks like 78) or 7C, Black hits his button to start White’s clock. If the clock needs to be stopped for any reason, press the Pause button. Restart the game by presssing the Pause button again. For a fresh game, hold down the Pause button to reset the clock.

If you don’t like the beeps, or the lights, set the on/off button accordingly.

If someone has lost on time, both clocks start flashing and the player whose time is 0:00 has lost.

Replacing the User Settings on the Saitek Chess Clock

When the batteries expire and a new set (2 x C type) are inserted in a clock, the user settings disappear and will need to be re-programmed. Perhaps someone alters one of the user settings, and they need to be changed back. Here’s how to do it:

The three user settings are set up by editing a preset mode and then storing it in one of the user settings, 7A, 7B and 7C, as follows:

7A – Stockport League. All the moves in 90 minutes. Created by editing 2A.

7B – Stoke League, Fischer timing. All the moves in 75 minutes, with ten seconds per move added before. Created by editing 4A.

7C – Stoke league, old timing. All the moves in 85 minutes. Created by editing 2A.

  1. Switch on the clock, and slide the other switch to Modify.

  2. Navigate to 2A. Click the Edit button, alter the time in the left hand window from 00:05 to 01:30, and leave the secs at zero. Repeat in the right hand window, and when you are back in the left hand window, hit the Store button.

  3. Select 7A using up and down on the joystick, then click Store again. That’s the first one done.

  4. Click the Edit button to get out of Edit mode, then move down to the – symbol (up and down on the joystick), navigate to 4A, and click the Edit button. Alter the time from 00:03 to 01:15. The LHS now displays mins and secs, so leave the secs at zero by clicking right. Now alter the time added from 00:02 to 00:10.

  5. Click right and you move to the right hand window. Do the same here – time from 00:03 to 01:15, secs left at zero, time added from 00:02 to 00:10. Click right and you are back in the left hand window. Click the Store button, select 7B, then click Store again. That’s the second one done.

  6. Click the Edit button to get out of Edit mode, and navigate to 2A. Click the Edit button, alter the time in the left hand window from 00:05 to 01:25, and leave the secs at zero. Repeat in the right hand window, and when you are back in the left hand window, hit the Store button. Select 7C and click Store again. That’s the last one done.

  7. Move the switch from Modify to Lock, and switch off.
